CARE TIPS

How to take care of your natural stones and gold-plated jewellery?

Natural gemstone and 24-karat gold-plated jewelry are precious treasures to cherish. Their beauty and brilliance are captivating, but they require special care to maintain their appearance and durability. Here are our tips for caring for your jewelry and keeping it looking its best.

1. Handle the natural stones with care

Irregular natural stones are delicate and unique. Avoid knocking them against hard surfaces, as they can easily scratch or crack. If you wear your jewelry daily, consider removing it before engaging in any activity that could expose it to impacts, such as sports or manual work.

2. Store your jewels in an appropriate place

Proper storage is essential to prevent scratches and premature wear. Ideally, store each piece of jewelry in a soft fabric pouch or a velvet-lined box. By keeping your jewelry separate, you can avoid natural stones damaging the surface of other pieces and so one.

3. Avoid water and chemicals

Water, although it may seem harmless, can dull gold plating and weaken natural stones over time. Remove your jewelry before washing your hands, swimming, or showering. Similarly, avoid any contact with chemicals such as perfumes, creams, cleaning products, or hair sprays. These substances can diminish the shine of gold plating and natural stones.

4. Gently clean your jewellery

When cleaning your jewelry, prioritize gentleness. Use a soft, non-abrasive cloth, ideally microfiber, to wipe the jewelry and remove traces of dust or oil. If needed, dampen the cloth with a bit of warm soapy water, but avoid immersing the jewelry itself in water. Then, use a dry cloth to remove any residual moisture.

5. Polish gold-plated with care

24-karat gold plating can tarnish over time, but it is possible to restore the shine of gold-plated chains or components. A simple jewelry polishing cloth can be used, but avoid pressing too hard to prevent wearing away the gold layer. If you notice the color fading, it may be a good idea to have the piece replated to refresh its appearance.

6. Avoid sudden temperature changes

Natural stones, like most organic materials, can react to extreme temperature fluctuations. Avoid leaving your jewelry in places exposed to direct sunlight, in a very hot bathroom, or near a heat source. Stones may crack, lose their shine, or become more fragile.

With a few simple and regular care practices, your natural stone and 24-karat gold-plated jewelry will remain radiant, enhancing your outfits for many years to come. Taking care of them is a way to preserve their beauty and keep them as stunning as the day you got them. Take the time to protect and cherish them, and these unique pieces will continue to brighten your daily life!
